Eraldo Bernocchi

The work of RareNoise co-founder, multi-instrumentalist and composer Eraldo Bernocchi, crosses the whole of the label’s catalogue.

From the ambient guitars of Parched, to the fusion of Somma, to his well received ambient collaboration with Harold Budd and Robin Guthrie, to the abstract doom of Obake and the mathcore of Metallic Taste Of Blood, to the his slide guitar collaboration with Prakash Sontakke, to the industrial lanscapes of Rosebud, with Jo Quail and FM Einheit, Bernocchi’s ability to embrace and enrich extreme diversity through a bewildering array of collaborations has been conclusively and successfully documented.

For his first solo release ever, Bernocchi has created an evocative soundtrack for a new documentary film / biopic on American artist Cy Twombly.

Imagined and produced by Michele Bongiorno written and directed by Andrea Bettinetti for GoodDay Films Ltd, ‘Cy Dear‘ was presented privately at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in the Spring of 2018 and will have its festival premiere in the spring of 2019. Bernocchi’s soundtrack is suitably atmospheric, underscoring the life and times of the American painter-sculptor-photographer, whose work influenced a generation of younger artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Anselm Kiefer, Francesco Clemente and Julian Schnabel.

“This work bears my signature,” he says. “It’s a side of me that’s always been there. Note after note, take after take, I became part of this story. I brought my memories.”

The soundtrack carries the name of one of Cy Twombly‘s most recognisable paintings, ‘Like A Fire That Consumes All Before It‘, which also graces the artwork of the release.
