Dear Friends

TWINSCAPES_600600_72dpi

2014 has started swiftly, and we would like to take the opportunity to offer you all a peek at the releases we have prepared for this year. This year’s release schedule will be very intense and will feature two releases per monthly cycle

End of February/Early March:

We start with TWINSCAPES (RNR037 and RNR037LP) ,  an album imagined and moulded by Colin Edwin and Lorenzo Feliciati  after an impromptu gig in London in Spring 2013.  The two master bass-players called upon trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer, saxophonist David Jackson of Van Der Graaf Generator, percussionist Andi Pupato of Ronin and Roberto Gualdi, drummer of Italian Prog Rock legends PFM. TWINSCAPES was mixed by none other than Bill Laswell in Orange Studios, NJ. Official release date for the album is March 7th.

The three Scots, Rebecca Sneddon on alto sax, Colin Stewart on bass and Paul Archibald on drums were discovered by Eraldo Bernocchi mid 2013 – once signed they headed over to Gorbal Studios in Glasgow in September 2013 where they re-recorded their two first EPs and a new full length album (The Awakening of The City) due out in 2015. The Double EP and the next full length album were mixed by Eraldo Bernocchi. Official release date for the album is March 7th

End Of March /Early April:

The second release cycle will see two magnificent recordings being concurrently released, both with an official release date of April 7th (pre-orders will start March 4th)

SONY DSC

We will start with ELEC3CITIES (RNR038 and RNR038LP), the new album by Italian piano trio CHAT NOIR (Michele Cavallari on piano, multiple keyboards, analog synthesizers and effects, Luca Fogagnolo on electric bass, upright bass, guitars and effects and Giuliano Ferrari on drums and effects).

By organically and masterfully blending elements of Electronica, both Ambient and Concrete Music with structures arising out of chamber music and jazz, this innovative has come up with a wholly unique sound on Elec3Cities that may establish a daring new direction for the format. The delicate balance of electronic experimentalism and acoustic piano jazz has been evolving gradually from the group’s initial release in 2006, Adoration, and continued on 2007’s Decoupage through 2008’s Difficult to See You and 2011’s acclaimed Weather Forecasting Stone. But the three Italian musicians take it to a wholly new level on Elec3Cities, their most overtly experimental outing to date and debut for the London-based RareNoise label.

Recorded  in Jamie Saft’s Potterville studios, this record presents itself as an entrancing, psychedelic organic voyage. It establishes psychedelia as one of the columns of contemporary free music, and is both mind blowing and incredibly subtle.

The two releases slated for late May/early June are:

a. INDIGO MIST (RNR043 and RNR043LP), a collaboration between the Cuong Vu Trio and electroacoustic composer Prof Richard Karpen. This is an incredible release – a study in the organic interaction of man and machine, musicians and patches. The trio of Roy Powell, Jacob Young and Jarle Vespestad have worked hard on a new incredible release to follow on the self-titled debut album (RNR026) released in 2012 on RareNoiseRecords. The result is masterful ROCK’N’ROLL album. More News soon
