Parched is an instrumental guitar project by Eraldo Bernocchi & Davide Tiso.
“Arc” is the first album release by Parched. This stunningly beautiful ambient album is like a soundtrack to a non - existent road movie, primarily filmed in a hot desert, through a rose tinted wide angled camera. Imagine the ethos of an Ennio Morricone 70’s soundtrack, directed by Wim Wenders and Brian Eno alongside Robert Fripp, in the leading roles! In 2005, Italian guitarist, electronic artist and producer Eraldo Bernocchi met Davide Tiso, guitarist and founder of the extreme/experimental band Ephel Duath. Bernocchi asked Davide Tiso to contribute to 23/30, the last album by seminal Italian industrial electronic band ‘Sigillum- S – a project that was originally founded by Bernocchi himself. In 2007, Bernocchi conceived a musical project focused on the use of ambient guitars, with the aim of composing a soundtrack for desert landscapes - urban deserts, deserts within deserts, he then decided to involve Davide with the project and thus Parched was born.
Arc consists of nine compositions, focusing on baritone guitars, to enhance the sound, the two guitars engage in an inter twinning flowing dialogue. The album has taken nearly two years to finish, with a long time spent striving to achieve perfect tonal balance - every track focuses on a different aspect of music dynamics, on the act of appearing and disappearing, to enhance the sound and the emotional depth of the songs. It is a deep and thoughtful record, highly complex in its arrangements but equally simple, it is to be savoured over and over again, as it reinvents itself for the listener every time.
Trey Gunn has posted a very interesting article on how
he deals with sites offering his material for free download without his consent. It makes for interesting reading – DenseSignals agrees with Mr Gunn’s position.
